Canada is the second-largest country in the world behind Russia in terms of landmass. If you are a national of a country that requires a visa to visit Canada, it is advised that you make an application well in advance of your planned visit.
However, Applicants from certain countries do not need to apply for a visit visa, instead, they need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
Most visit visas and eTAs are now issued for up to ten years with multiple entries allowed over a ten-year period even though there is a single-entry visitor’s visa with which a visitor stays in Canada for a period of up to six months. With each entry, you can remain in Canada for a maximum of six months within a twelve-month period.
General eligibility requirements for a Travel Visa.
- A valid travel document.
- Be in good health.
- No criminal record or immigration-related convictions.
- Proof of ties in home country such as job, family, financial assets to prove you will return home.
- Sufficient funds for your length of stay in Canada.
- Demonstrate your readiness to leave Canada at the end of your visit.
- You may also need a medical exam
- A letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.
Some people are not allowed to enter Canada (i.e., inadmissible). This can be for several reasons including being involved in:
- Criminal activity.
- Human rights violations.
- Organized crime.
You can also be inadmissible for security, health, or financial reasons.
